1853-founded Chikusen in Tokyo is recognised as having one of the finest reputations for kimono fabrics its lauded in particular for its dyeing and hand-printing. The technique used is called Katazome, and involves dyeing by hand using hand-engraved paper stencils. All colours are vegetable-based, the most common being indigo.
