Theres a fine art to tracking down an antique quilt, and were delighted to welcome a selection of high-quality designs from an established specialist. This hand-quilted piece is sourced from the 1910s with a unique design that was originally designed by George Gardiner of Allenheads from the 1870s onwards, who shared his teachings with several apprentices including the talented Elizabeth Sanderson. His signature aesthetic consists of central medallions and swag borders, characteristics that were mainly found on quilts in the north-east region of the UK, especially County Durham and Northumberland. Please note, this antique piece is 100+ years old and may show signs of use consistent with its age.
